Dental Terminology 4th Edition by Calista Kindle, EFDA, CDA/Charline M. Dofka

Overview

A valuable tool for introducing students to the dental field, Kindle/Dofka's DENTAL TERMINOLOGY, 4th Edition, lays the foundation needed to advance in dental assistant studies. Teaching students how to break down, use and pronounce dental terms, it takes an innovative new word-building approach to help dental assistants understand and remember terminology better than ever before. Instead of a strict dictionary of dental terms, the text serves as a word bank with pronunciation guides and definitions applied to practice areas. Chapters are organized by specialty area, enabling readers to quickly find the information they need. The new edition has been thoroughly updated with current visuals, pictures and diagrams. Whether learning in the classroom or on the job, this easy-to-use reference is an ideal resource dental professionals can use for years to come.

Calista Kindle, EFDA, CDA

Calista Kindle spent five years as a staff writer at a local newspaper in Ashtabula, Ohio, before entering the dental field over 15 years ago. She was as a dental assistant/oral surgical assistant before she became a dental assistant instructor for Great Lakes Institute of Technology in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she was soon promoted to program director for the Dental Assistant program. She devotes her time and effort to each individual student, making sure they are the best in the field. Her students maintain high DANB Certificate pass rates, along with successful job placement immediately after graduating from the dental program. While serving as program director, she attended Westmoreland Community College to become an Expanded Function Dental Assistant. Licensed in Pennsylvania as an Expanded Function Assistant, she works part time at a local dental office and continues her education at Clarion University.

Charline M. Dofka

Charline Dofka was a dental assistant/hygienist in oral surgery, orthodontics and general practices before she became a dental assisting instructor and Diversified Cooperative Health Occupations coordinator at Belmont Career Center in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Along with teaching duties, she chartered the National Honor Society participation of the vocational school and was adviser for the VICA opening and closing ceremony team to national competition representing the state of Ohio. Retired from active teaching, Dofka maintains life membership in the Iota Lambda Sigma professional vocational teaching fraternity, DANB dental assisting certification and retired status as a dental hygienist in West Virginia. She currently serves in consultation practice and advisory board capacity. Dofka received an MS from the University of Dayton and has pursued postgraduate studies at Ohio State, West Virginia University, Kent State and Ohio University.
