Spencer A. Rathus

Spencer A. Rathus received his Ph.D. from the University at Albany and is on the faculty of The College of New Jersey. His research interests include treatment of obesity and eating disorders, smoking cessation, human growth and development, methods of therapy and sexual dysfunctions. The author of the widely-used "Rathus Assertiveness Schedule," his professional activities include service on the American Psychological Association Task Force on Diversity Issues at the Precollege and Undergraduate Levels of Education in Psychology and on the Advisory Panel, American Psychological Association and Board of Educational Affairs Task Force on Undergraduate Psychology Major Competencies.

Taylor Lane Rathus

Taylor obtained her Ph.D. in human development and family sciences from the University of Connecticut and teaches in the psychology department at CUNY’s School of Professional Studies. She also holds a master’s degree in human development and social intervention along with an advanced certificate in LGBT health, education, and social services from New York University. Her research has focused on HIV prevention among sexual and gender diverse men of color, sexual orientation and gender identity-based disparities among subgroups of sexual and gender diverse youth, masculinity, and critical consciousness. She has published research articles in numerous journals, including AIDS and Behavior, Behavioral Medicine, Journal of Youth and Adolescence, and Annals of LGBTQ Public and Population Health. She is also coauthor with Spencer A. Rathus and Jeffrey S. Nevid of the Pearson textbook Human Sexuality in a Changing World
