Tim Rakow

Tim Rakow is Reader in Psychology at King’s College London and has over 20 experience of supervising research and teaching research methods to psychology students. Dr Rakow uses a range of research strategies to examine human judgement and decision making. He is also the adapting author of the first EMEA edition of Research Methods for the Behavioural Sciences. He has published over 50 research articles in more than 25 different academic journals, spanning the disciplines of psychology, health, medicine, decision science and behavioural economics. He is an Associate Editor for the journal Thinking & Reasoning.

Hannie van Hooff

Johanna (Hannie) C. van Hooff is Lecturer at the Faculty of Science, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She received her Master’s degree (Cum Laude) and PhD in Physiological Psychology at Tilburg University. She then moved to the United Kingdom where she taught various cognitive and biological psychology courses at three different universities while continuing her research into attention and memory processes. Johanna is the adapting author of the EMEA edition of Cognitive Psychology, now in its second edition. She has published many research papers in internationally renowned journals and is an expert in the recording and analysis of event-related brain potentials (ERPs). In 2009 she moved back to her home country, The Netherlands where the focus of her work shifted to the development and teaching of courses integrating cognitive psychology with biological and information sciences.

Paraskevi Argyriou

Paraskevi Argyriou teaches Emotion, Cognitive Psychology and Business Psychology At Queen Mary, University of London. She received her PhD at University of Birmingham. Her research area is the psychology of language and communication (including non-verbal communication), and she is currently working on a project (initially funded by the British Academy) which investigates the relationship between gestures and empathy.

As an educator, she is dedicated to teaching excellence and is particularly interested in enhancing the student experience and employability. She has presented projects in HEA Conferences, with a focus on improving assessment and feedback, and diversifying the curriculum.

Paraskevi is a member of the Experimental Psychology Society and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
